Recent Projects - Weed & Pest Capture software successfully deployed to Burnett Mary Regional Local Governments.
 XY Mapping, in conjunction with Exa-Min Technologies, Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) and the Department of Natural Resources and Water, has recently successfully completed a project to supply and implement our proven pest and weed capture system utilising cost-effective Personal Database Assistants (PDA’s) with GPS extensions for 24 Local Government Authorities around South East Qld.
The system, powered by the popular GBM Mobile technology, encourages and facilitates quick, user-friendly capture of accurate spatial data with descriptive information populated efficiently using drop down lists with photo identification ensuring data integrity and consistency. While captured in common MapInfo format, the data imports directly to the State Government’s PestInfo software application and satisfies the criteria for data exchange between local and state governments.
Local Government Weed Officers capture the field data which creates a comprehensive database of all known weed infestations, in a GIS that allows extensive analysis to occur, by any user who requires it.
This allowed BMRG to strategically focus on weed management investments and to incorporate weed management into property plans etc to achieve significant results at a regional scale, as well as local on ground benefits. In exchange local governments received a standardised, user friendly, proven method for weed capture which was partially funded and supported by state government authorities.

Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund (RRIF)
As part of the 2004 election commitment, Promoting an Enterprise Culture, the Australian Government established the $50 million Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund, to provide Local Government Authorities with incentives to press ahead with regulatory and compliance reforms that will benefit small and home-based businesses; for example through a reduction in the impact of regulation and associated compliance costs.
XY Mapping was contracted by the North Burnett RRIF project to implement an interactive online mapping application as a component to this overall project. The end result of this project can be viewed through the below link.
