Data is collected using simple hand held computers (PDA) with GPS and camera devices. Once the weed location is captured custom forms prompt the user to enter the required details in a quick, efficient and accurate manner.
Field data consistency and integrity are ensured through the use of creative functions such as drop down menus. Another beneficial aspect is the availability to access the in-built weed image library therefore assisting identification.
This system dramatically increases the ease and accuracy of field collection which is why the Department of Primary Industries, the state government authority responsible for weed management, has given their direct endorsement of this product.
Data captured can be uploaded via mobile phone to a central data database ready for analysis through a range of leading software vendors. Data is captured in native MapInfo format, is easily opened in ESRI ArcGIS and directly imports to the state governments “PestInfo” application.
Our preferred solution for GIS interrogation is the custom built application - GBM Office. GBM Office operates on a relational database backend ensuring numerous benefits. From a weed management perspective users can navigate through past records on the same weed to ascertain the growth or decline of the infestation.
Query functionality and report generation allow worthwhile information to be extracted allowing easy retrieval of  information such as:
- Fastest growing species of weeds over given point of time
- Effectiveness of treatment methods
- Complete breakdown of particular species and their growth or decline over a period of time
